Used Ryan Cathedral Brazilian Rosewood with Caspian Spruce top. 2004 Near Mint--. Kevin is very keen on this type of spruce. He says, Caspian Spruce fills the middle ground between the light spruces (Engelmann, the Europeans) and the heavier (Adirondack ). It gives a roundness to the tone. It also is the only spruce with an almost velvety appearance. This guitar has a Florentine (sharp) cutaway and top bevel. The bevel and bindings are Macassar Ebony. The fretboard is Ebony and bound in Ebony with a small 12th fret floral abalone inlay. Beautiful Blue Paua rosette & top trim and back center strip. Low profile, Mahogany neck; Clear pickguard. The headstock purfling is More Blue Paua! Also, the front and back headstock plates are Macassar Ebony. Of course the headstock logo is --- you guessed it --- Blue Paua. Ebony bridge with Mammoth Ivory bridge pins/abalone dots. McIntyre Feather pickup. Unplugged, the sound that eminates from this instrument is, well.... Cathedral-like ! It is robust, and massive, and airy, and RICH. A White deluxe Calton case embossed R on the top protects this baby. |
