Beneteau Arts & Crafts Mission Used 2009, Near Mint. Get a look at this wood, will ya? Flamed, quarter-sawn White Oak Back & Sides that is visually stunning! Marc has shaded the back and sides a beautiful Golden Brown. Adirondack Spruce top. This is Marc's Concert Standard 12 fret model. Brazilian Rosewood Fingerboard & Rosette. And Brazilian Rosewood bindings, including the soundhole and Headstock faceplate veneer. Vintage Waverly Tuning machines with Snakewood Buttons. Brazilian rosewood top purfling and heelcap as well. Modified Brazilian Rosewood pyramid bridge with Snakewood bridge pins. Tiny, Mother of Pearl fretboard markers. Huge, open, warm sound. Very unique piece. OHSC & Colorado insulated case cover included in our price of $3995.
More about this new model in Marc's own words: The concept for this guitar model was born out of an admiration for the Mission styled furniture also known as the "Arts & Crafts movement" of the early 1900's. My wife Gayle and I have always loved the simple elegance of this 1/4 sawn white oak furniture and for several years I have been contemplating a guitar inspired by this style. My concept was of an instrument from the same era, i.e. 1900-1920. With this in mind my Mission Model has figured 1/4-sawn White Oak back and sides, shaded a beautiful golden amber. The top is Adirondack, a likely choice for the time. In keeping with the simplicity theme there are no purflings on the back & sides and I've also eliminated the back head veneer as a tribute to the guitars of that era. The fingerboard, pyramid bridge, head veneer and bindings on this particular guitar are Brazilian Rosewood (an optional extra) and the tuners are Waverly. . . . White Oak is a moderately dense, stable hardwood with a tone best described as a cross between Mahogany, Maple and Indian Rosewood. This combination makes it very versatile and well suited to a wide range of playing styles. |
